Church Street Montessori

A caring environment where children learn through doing

Standards

We follow the educational philosophy and curriculum as envisioned by Dr. Maria Montessori by upholding to the A.M.I. (Association Montessori Internationale) standards:

  • Lessons are always given by a trained Montessori teacher.
  • The classroom has a full range of Montessori materials as recommended by A.M.I.
  • Children attend the program five days a week.
  • The classroom has a three-year age mix (3, 4, 5 year olds) where the older children (4 and 5 year olds) have previous Montessori experience.
  • Our teachers hold an age-appropriate A.M.I. diploma.
  • Part- time sessions (half-day) are only offered in the morning.
  • Children begin Montessori before the age of four, ideally between 2 ½ and 3 ½.
  • All classes have a three-hour uninterrupted work cycle.
  • Specialist teachers do not interrupt the children’s work cycle.
  • Children are encouraged to complete the three-year program.
  • All teachers stay with the same class for at least three years.
  • All parents are offered an opportunity to participate in parent workshops and lectures.
